Aqara Hub M3 (Matter, Thread, Zigbee 3.0)

Aqara's 2024 flagship hub bundles a Matter controller, Thread border router, Zigbee 3.0 bridge and IR blaster in one mains-powered unit.

4.2 / 5
Highly recommended

Strengths

  • Built-in Thread border router extends Thread mesh coverage to other rooms
  • Zigbee 3.0 bridge brings existing Aqara, IKEA TRÅDFRI and Hue-compatible Zigbee devices into Matter
  • Wired Ethernet plus dual-band Wi-Fi for reliable connectivity

Watch outs

  • Not certified as a HomeKit Secure Video bridge - the older Aqara Hub M2 retained that role
  • Up to 128 child devices is generous but not unlimited for very large estates
  • Z-Wave is not supported, so existing Z-Wave fleets still need a SmartThings or HUSBZB-style hub
